New York’s Small Claims Court

New York City’s Small Claims Court offers an outlet for New Yorkers to resolve small disputes and provides a bulwark against small matters growing into big problems. It also offers a forum for gritty urban drama as neighbors and fellow citizens argue with great passion over matters that often mean more than just money. In yesterday’s (June 3, 2011) New York Times, William Glaberson wrote a terrific article, “Despite Cutbacks, Night Court’s Small Dramas Go On,” that captures the spirit and feel of New York’s Small Claims Court and the pressures that the recent budget cutbacks have had on the “people’s court.”
